APP to launch intensive ILP checking drive

ITANAGAR, Jan 25: Taking serious note of the influx of outsiders to Arunachal Pradesh without valid Inner Line Permit (ILP), Arunachal Pradesh Police has decided to conduct intensive drive for checking of ILP throughout the state.

“A few instances have come to the notice of the authorities that people from outside Arunachal Pradesh have entered into the state without valid Inner Line Permit. There is a legal requirement that any person who is not from Arunachal Pradesh, while entering the state, is required to have an ILP,” Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Satyendra Garg said in a press statement.

He instructed Superintendents of Police of all the districts to ensure that anybody who is not a bonafide resident of Arunachal Pradesh must have a valid ILP to enter the state. Check gate police staff will ensure compliance of ILP requirements, he said.

“APP will ensure that all those entering state must be bonafide residents of Arunachal Pradesh or have valid ILPS.”

Police will also check every vehicle, including those with red beacons and security pilot/escort vehicles, while entering the state. Police officials not carrying out these instructions strictly will be departmentally dealt with,” he said.

He informed that the department has already initiated action against those officials who allowed persons from adjoining states travelling in a vehicle with red beacon and security vehicles recently to enter into the state,” he added.

 

Guest House for workers inaugurated

ITANAGAR, Jan 25: Much to the delight of the workers/labour class in the state, the Arunachal Pradesh State Labour Guest house was today inaugurated by Arunachal Pradesh Building and Others Construction Workers Welfare Board Chairman Jalley Sonam in a simple but impressive function held at T.T Plant, 'O' point Itanagar.

With the opening of the labour guest house in the heart of Capital Complex the accommodation problem for working class would be solved especially who come to Itanagar for medical and other official purposes. Inaugurating the guest house Sonam informed that the guest house is specially meant for the workers who come from outside for various proposes and face lodging problem in the city.

“Workers are the backbone and nation builder, they deserve better accommodation and lodging facilities wherever they go” the chairman added.

Secretary APB & OCWWB -cum- Director I.T S.D Sarker sought full cooperation from the workers’ union and requested  for proper utilization of the guest house. He also termed the guest house as gift to the working class. All Arunachal Pradesh Workers Union Working President Changma Tajo while welcoming the initiated lauded Tuki government for sanctioning and helping the workers.

 

ESM brings weekly news roundup

ITANAGAR, Jan 25: The Eastern Sky Media (ESM), the first electronic news agency in Arunachal Pradesh, has decided to present weekly roundup of news through local cable network.

The news roundup would be telecast during 8 to 8.30 pm on every Sunday covering all the happenings of the previous week.  The program edited and prepared by its Delhi desk would present news, views with quality video footage of the state from around the country.

 

Legal services clinic opens in Yupia

ITANAGAR, Jan 25: Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority has opened a Legal Services Clinic at District and Sessions Court Building, Yupia yesterday.

Yupia apart, there will be two more such clinics at Lumla and Changlang. These clinics are being opened throughout the state under the initiative of National Legal Services Authority to provide legal services to all eligible legal aid applicants in the nature of legal counseling, mediations including drafting and conveyancing and preparation of applications to the authorities.

While inaugurating the clinic, District and Session Judge (Yupia)  cum Member Secretary, Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority Budi Habung called upon the participants to make people aware of such free legal services under the state authority.

The programme was attended among others by Kardak Ete, Additional Advocate General, Dani Belo, Under Secretary, Law and OSD, APSLA, H Kashyap, CJM Yupia, Uttam Deka, Principal, Arunachal Law Academy.

 

Polo Park cleaned up

ITANAGAR, Jan 25: Continuing their untiring efforts to make Capital Complex a better place to live in, the volunteers of “Green Pioneers” today in collaboration with Department of Tourism carried out a clean-up drive at Polo Park, Naharlagun, one of the important public parks in the capital city.

Large number of volunteers including, students, officers and local youths of area turned up and reached at the venue at 7 am onwards. The “Green Pioneers” has been inspiring the denizens of capital complex with their dedication and sincerity to keep the city clean.

The volunteers cleaned up the entire park which was accumulated with heaves of garbage and burnt the collected garbage later.

Meanwhile, Secretary Tourism Sonam Chombey, who visited the clean drive, lauded the ‘Green Pioneers’ members for doing such noble work and encouraged them to keep up the good work.

 

R-Day volleyball competitions held

ITANAGAR, Jan 25: The final matches of the circle level volleyball competitions of Banderdewa circle for both men and women were held at Banderdewa today.

Dolikoto team defeated Karsingsa Yangfo team 3-0 in Men’s category while Karsingsa Yangfo Team defeated Karsingsa Women Team 3-1 in women’s category of the competition.

Banderdewa Anchal Chairperson Kipa Yaji and Banderdewa CO Pama Bagang witnessed the final matches.

The competition was organized under the initiative of Banderdewa circle officer as part of the 65th Republic day celebration.

 

AdiSU calls 3 Siang dists. bandh

ITANAGAR, Jan 25: All Adi Students’ Union (AdiSU) has called 24-hour bandh in three Siang districts on January 31 in protest against the proposed ‘illegal’ and ‘arbitrary public hearing for 27000 MW Lower Siang Hydro-Electric Project (LSHEP) as well as to register its strong protest against big dams on Siang River.

AdiSU and various organizations have been demanding cancellation of the proposed public hearing on January 31 on various legal grounds.

MMPVY misused, says AAPPTU

ITANAGAR, Jan 25: The All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Union (AAPPTU) has claimed that the ambitious scheme ‘Mukhya Mantri Paryatan Vikas Yojana’ (MMPVY) is being misused by the beneficiaries as the vehicles are being used for their personal leisure rather than its original purpose.

In its letter to the chief minister, the union stated that because of the easily removable logo in the vehicle, it is being misused and not catering to its original purpose of being a tourist taxi.

Other states like Assam, one can easily distinguish tourist cabs and private vehicles as the tourist cabs bear permanent logos of the particular scheme and also that they sport yellow number plates, it suggested in its representation.

 

Social service conducted

ITANAGAR, Jan 25: In the run up to the Republic Day celebration, the Gusar Circle Area Students’ Union conducted a two-day mass social service cum meeting at Segi (Gusar) HQ of Gusar Circle from Jan 24 last. Altogether 70 students participated in the event.

Later, president, general secretary and social service secretary of the union briefed about shouldering the responsibility of the society and to maintain peace and tranquility in the union.

 

Khimyang gets a new bus

CHANGLANG, Jan 25: A H & Vety and Diary Development, Parliamentary Secretary Phosum Khimhun  today flagged off a new bus for the Changlang-Khimiyang route.

On the occasion, Khimhun informed that the reintroduction of the bus service has been a demand placed by the people of the area. He expressed his happiness that the commuters can avail the service of the bus which will start daily service after handing it over to APST Department officially. He urged the panchayat leaders and public to safeguard the property and co-operate with the transport department.

DC Changlang C Yadav lauded Khimhun for procuring the Bus from his MLALAD Fund and informed the gathering that it is the first in the state where a Bus for public transport has been procured from MLALAD. Yadav also reiterated that the smooth running of the bus will depend on the co-operation of the public.

Annual NSS Spl. prog of GHSS held

ITANAGAR, Jan 25: The Annual NSS Special programme 2013-14 was organized at Govt. Primary School, 7D-Colony, Chimpu here by the NSS unit of Govt. Higher Secondary School here yesterday.

In the programme, the NSS team conducted a mass social service in the school. Barbed wire fencing was erected around the school campus, school surroundings were cleaned and a flag hoisting platform was also constructed in the premise. The colony approach road was also repaired.

The role of NSS volunteers toward nation building activities as well as the motto of NSS ‘Not me but you’ was imparted to the gathering. The programme was also attended by the SMDC of the school, teachings staffs and students of the school. The programme was coordinated by T Dulom, programme officer of NSS unit, Govt. Hr Sec School.

 

ALWS conference held

ITANAGAR, Jan 25: The first ever general conference cum meet of All Liyak Welfare Society (ALWS) was held at Chambang Liyak village, Seppa recently.

Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APBOCWWB) chairman Jalley Sonam and West Bameng Anchal Chairperson Rai Riang were chief guest and guest of honour.

The conference-cum-meet chaired by Dobing Liyak Sonam, who is also the chairman of All Liyak Welfare Society (ALWS), has adopted several resolutions for socio-economic upliftment of the society.

The programe witnessed various cultural programmes, story telling, tour programme etc.

 

PM CTA visits Tawang

TAWANG, Jan 25:  The Sikyong (Prime Minister) of Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) Dr. Lobsang Sangay was given a warm welcome by Minister Tourism and RWD, Pema Khandu with traditional garlanding of ‘Khatak’ (scarps) on his arrival at Urgen Sangpo Helipad, Tawang. Deputy Commissioner Tawang Abhishek Dev, ZPC Jambey Tsering and SP Tawang along with other host of public leaders received Dr. Lobsang and his entourage at the Civil Helipad.

En-route to the district head quarter, the Sikyong made a pilgrimage visited to Jamyang Choekhorling Monastery and the birth place of the 6th Dalai Lama – Tsangyang Gyatso at Urgelling in Tawang.  

On arrival at Galden Namgey Lhatse the Dr. Lobsang along with Pema offered their prayers and paid reverence to the 27ft high Golden Buddha.

Later in the day, a private meeting between the Sikyong and the Tibetans was held at Zomkhang hall which was roughly attended by about 200 Tibetans settled in Tawang.

The state guest extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister Nabum Tuki, Pema Khandu and in general the people of the State for the love and support rendered to the Tibetan community in Arunachal Pradesh. “I had never imagined that I would be in a position to visit Arunachal in such a brief time, I couldn’t have made the visit possible if it was not for the effort taken by Pema”, said the Sikong of CTA.

Dr. Lobsang is on a weeklong tour to Arunachal Pradesh will be visiting various Tibetan settlements in Arunachal Pradesh viz. Tenzingang, Miao and Tezu on 27th, 29th and 30th January respectively. He is also scheduled to visit Bomdila, Khalaktang and Tuting.

After the Sikyong’s tour in Arunachal Pradesh, he will also attend the Tibet Festival in Guwahati starting Feb 2. Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama is will also attend the festival, who will be accompanied by Tourism and RWD Minister Pema Khandu, who is also the chairman of the festival organising committee.

Arunachal celebrates National Voters Day

ITANAGAR, Jan 25: Along with the rest of the country, the 4th National Voters Day (NVD) was celebrated  throughout Arunachal Pradesh in a befitting manner today. The theme for the 4th NVD is Ethical Voting. National Voters Day is started from 25 January 2011.

At Itanagar, the NVD was celebrated  at Banquet Hall here. The programme was organized by the DEO Papum pare  district.  

Addressing the  august gathering on the occasion Chief Secretary, GoAP, H.K. Paliwal said that vote is the most effective tool of the people to participate in the democratic process of the country. It is a constitutional right of every citizen of the country to participate in election process and it is duty of every citizen to vote in every election fearlessly and without being influenced by considerations of religion, race, caste, community, language or any inducement, he added.

He appealed the people not to underestimate the value of their votes and never to sell the votes during election time due to inducement or fear. He also urged the young voters to use their vote in a more responsible manner to create a progressive and developed nation. He further said that voters’ percentage in Arunachal has always been encouraging and efforts should make to achieve 90 per cent turn out of voters in next assembly election, which will be possible only through proper motivation and awareness on value of  votes.

Chief Electoral Officer C B Kumar in his address  said the main aim of the day is to encourage young voters to enroll themselves in electoral roll, to participate in the election process of the country and to spread awareness among voters. He requested the voters to vote ethically. The CEO also lauded the district administrations for successful completion of Electoral Roll process and said that shortly final state electoral roll is going to be published. He further said that no ineligible voters should be encouraged to vote during election, persons having proper EPIC should cast their votes without any fear or inducement.

DC Capital Sanjay Goel  also urged the people to use their vote in free and fair manner and said that every vote play a vital part in democracy and it helps in better governance. Later on H K Paliwal felicitated 22 best Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and handed over PVC cards to 6 new young voters. Dr. Ligu Tacho who attended the function as special invitees distributed prizes to the winners of essay writing competitions. T T Gamdik Commissioner GA and other senior Govt high officials, students of various schools attended the programme.

At  Ziro, the 4th National Voter’s day was celebrated at Abotani hall, Ziro. Speaking on the occasion Dr (Fr) Pulson Veliyanoor, Principal St. Claret College said that the ability, vision and passion of the youths and their right choice of leader can accelerate development of the country.

Deputy Commissioner Marnya Ete read out the message from V.S Sampat, Chief Election Commissioner and also administered the National Voter’s day pledge. Prizes were also distributed to winners of essay writing competition held on the occasion.  Best BLOs and new voters were also felicitated. The progamme  was also attended among others  by Nending Chatung, SDO-cum-ERO,  T R Topu EAC, Hibu Tama, Principal, Govt. higher secondary  school, heads of departments, panchayat leaders, BLOs and school children.

At Pasighat, East Siang DC cum  DEO  Nidhi Srivastava administered NVD pledge to the people in front of her office on the occasion. She also  highlighted the  importance of the  NVD celebration since its inception.

Out of 1463 new voters in the district, many young who attained 18 years of age have been enrolled in the electoral rolls so far and the DEO handed over few EPICs to many of the young voters on the occasion. “Such government initiative is expected to give the youths a sense of empowerment, pride and inspire them to exercise their franchise. They would come to realize the importance of their voting rights and the values associated with it,” added Srivastava before administering the pledge. She awarded cash prize along with certificates to Badal Chandra Dey, Head Assistant (Election) and four BLOs for their meritorious services on the occasion.

At Daporijo, DC cum DEO Tahang Taggu urged upon all present in celebration of NVD to create awareness amongst people for maximum enrolment of eligible voters and also enhancement of voters’ turnout during election. Participation of people in the electoral process is very essential for success of democracy, he said and read out CEC’s message on NVD and administered NVD pledge to all present.  Earlier Orin Lego, ERO(HQ) briefed the objective of the day and also narrated the ongoing SVEEP-II campaign for voters education and ethical voting. Amongst others, Gyati Taji, ADC (HQ) also spoke on the occasion. Govt staff including BLOs and newly enrolled electors were present on the occasion.

At Leporiang, the National Voters Day was celebrated in befitting manner with participation of Circle Officer cum AERO, Hage Tarung along with the Booth Level Officers, panchayat leaders, general public, government staffs and the new voters. The newly registered voters were felicitated by the concerned BLO.

At Khonsa, Tirap Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Kamlesh Joshi explained the main purpose of celebrating the voters day. He said that the young citizens should understand the value of their votes and compulsorily enroll their names in the electoral roll. He administered the voters pledge to the participants and read out the message of the CEC of India and gave away the prizes for essay, drawing and quiz competition conducted to mark the voters day. Earlier, EAC and ERO K. Tikhak highlighted the significance of the day and urged the people to elect only those candidates who are honest and have clear image.

At Roing, the 4th National Voter’s Day was celebrated in a befitting manner at Multipurpose Cultural Hall, New Colony. The first woman Everester of the North-East and a youth icon, Tine Mena in her speech called upon the youths to know their voting rights and exercise their voting without the influence of money, caste, creed and community.  Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer  Shiv Kumar has called upon the voters to exercise their adult franchise fearlessly and freely. The DEO also administered voters pledge to the voters present on the occasion.

Sandeep Kr Singh, Assistant Commissioner, W Tikhak, ERO cum ADC and M Dirchi, DPO also spoke on the occasion. Students of JNV Roing presented a small but impressive play on “Note aur Vote ka Rajniti” while students of VKV and Intaya Public School, Roing presented patriotic songs on the occasion.

At Aalo, the NVD was celebrated with participation of  HoDs, SFS College, Govt. Nehru Memorial Higher Secondary School  and   BLOs at Gumin Kiin, Aalo. West Siang District Election Officer M. K. Sahoo stressed on the importance of right to vote and generate awareness among young eligible voters to enroll their names in the voter list. He also administered voter’s pledge.  Among others Moki Loyi, ADC Aalo, Gijum Tali DIPRO, Principal SFS College, Moken Ete Principal Nehru Memorial Hr. Secondary School spoke on the occasion. This day was  also celebrated at different sub-divisions and circles of the district.

 

 

Governor, CM urge DGBR for timely implementation of road projects

ITANAGAR, Jan 25: Director General of Border Roads(DGBR) Lt Gen A T Parnaik called on the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma at Raj Bhawan here today.

The Governor, who recently toured remote places like Taksing and Kibithu, emphasized on road connectivity to remote places like Taksing and Maza. He stressed on greater coordination between the Projects, i.e. Vartak, Bramkank, Udayak and Arunank Project and use of suitable machineries.

Underscoring that good roads are required for enhancing the quality of life and socio-economic development of the people in remote areas, Governor stressed on expediting the road projects and timely and proper implementation of projects in the state.

Lt. General A T Parnaik along with Chief Engineer Project Arunak, Commandant 756 Task Force and two other officers of BRO also called on the state Chief Minister Nabam Tuki in his Niti-Vihar Bungalow this evening.

The DGBR gave a brief on various road infrastructure developments in the state and the problems faced by the organization while construction of those roads.

The Chief Minister suggested on maintaining work calendar while executing connectivity works. “Providing connectivity to all the border villages is a priority of my government” Tuki emphatically said while assuring to extend all possible assistance in the BROs effort.

He reiterated that land acquisition would not be a problem as the state machinery has been sounded to expedite the process in terms of infrastructural development of the state.

Lamenting over the poor maintenance of BRTF Roads, Tuki strongly reiterated the need of better and all weather connectivity to various parts of the State from strategic as well as socio-economic development point of view.

Tuki urged the DGBR to not to compromise with the quality of materials used for construction of road. The Director General confidently said that the BRO has been doing all out effort to expedite the road construction in the state and appreciated the CM and the state government for lending logistic support wherever required. Chief Minister assured all possible assistance from the State Government’s end.

The meeting was also attended by Chief Secretary, Commissioner to CM and few other officers from BRO and State Government.

 

 

Deepti Apang passes away

ITANAGAR, Jan 25: Deepti Apang has passed away at Banskota, Pasighat early this morning.  Late Deepti, 50, was the  wife of former Chief Minister Gegong Apang.

She was a social worker and served the Adi community in particular with her innovative ideas to promote its rich culture and was conferred with lifetime North East PPL award during the Independence Day celebration in 2011. Deepti (Boko) Apang, born in Jiya village of Lower Dibang Valley district was nurtured and brought up under care of retired Joint DSE T S Boko. She had also served the state in the police department.

As the news of her demise spread, a pall of gloom has descended in East Siang and hundreds of dear and near thronged to her private residence at Banskota to pay their last homage.

Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma has expressed shock and grief on the sudden demise of Deepti Apang.

In his condolence message to former Chief Minister Gegong Apang, Governor said that Late Deepti Apang always took immense interest in showcasing the traditional art and culture of the State.  Joining the bereaved family members, Governor offered prayers for eternal peace of the departed soul.  

Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has deeply mourned the untimely and sudden demise of Late Deepti Boko Apang.

In his condolence message addressed to former Chief Minister Gegong Apang, Tuki said “It pains my heart to write to you at this moment of extreme grief. I humbly endure to share with you the saddest times of your life though I know that it would be hard to do so and ease the pain you and your family are going through”.  Remembering late Deepti Apang as a steward who inculcated cultural values to the younger generation by promoting the rich cultural heritage of the state, Tuki admired her for being an active social worker who had been working relentlessly for the welfare of women folks. “She will be remembered forever by the people for her contributions as a social worker, an educationist and a good human being,” Tuki said.

While extending solidarity with the family members, Tuki prayed Almighty God to give enough strength to bear this irreparable loss.

Education Minister Bosiram Siram, Union Minister of State (Minority Affairs) Ninong Ering, East Siang DC Nidhi Srivastava, ZPC Kaling Dai, Chief Councilor Denong Tamuk and councilors of PMC expressed their deep shock and grief at the demise of Deepti Apang. In their condolences, they said Late Deepti was a very simple and loving personality with amiable nature and served the people with utmost sincerity and dedication. They prayed to Almighty for her eternal rest and for enough strength to the bereaved family members to bear the loss.

The Lower Dibang Valley District Unit of Adi Baane Kebang has expressed deep shock at the sudden demise of Deepti Apang. Her death has created a vacuum in Adi Society particularly in woman wing of ABK as she was actively involved in many social activities of the unit. Late Deepti Apang was also instrumental in successfully organizing the Golden Jubilee Baane Solung 2013 at Parbuk last year, the district unit said while expressing solidarity with the bereaved family.

The Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP) expressed shock at the sudden demise of Deepti Apang.

In its condolence message, the IFCSAP said “she was a great visionary and dedicated her life for the cause of the society, especially in the preservation, protection and promotion of Donyi-Poloism and indigenous culture of the state. Her death is a great loss for the entire people of Arunachal Pradesh, which will be difficult to fill up.” The IFCSAP prayed to Almighty Donyi-Polo to give peace to her departed soul and courage to the bereaved family.

“Late Deepti Apang was a prominent social worker who believed in preserving age-old tradition and culture. Her death is a great loss to the society,” said AdiSU  in a condolence message.  AdiSU team led by General Secretary visited the bereaved family this afternoon.

Sanskar Bharati Arunachal Pradesh also deeply mourned the death of Deepti Apang, who was the President of Sanskar Bharati Pashighat unit cum multi-talented artist of Arunachal Pradesh. Expressing deep shock over the death, which is a great loss for the organization, the Sanskar Bharati prayed Almighty Donyi Polo that her soul may rest in peace.  

Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Arunachal Pradesh and PPA also  mourned the demise of Deepti and conveyed their condolences  to the  bereaved family. Her last rites will be performed at Pasighat tomorrow. (With inputs from Pasighat DIPRO)

 

 

AAPKU laments delay in releasing flood relief

ITANAGAR, Jan 25: All Arunachal Pradesh Kishan Union (AAPKU) has expressed strong resentment over delay in releasing flood relief to the affected farmers of Hollongi village.

According to the Union, a joint survey to assess the properties lost/damaged in the flash flood by the affected people was conducted by a committee comprising Balijan ADO, Yupia DDMO, JE PWD, EE PWD (Highway) led by EAC Balijan following instruction from Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner and detailed report submitted. The final spot verification should have been conducted within September 15, 2013. But the same has not been done till date, the union lamented.

The union along with the affected farmers/villagers and Lower Balijan ZPM called on the Papum Pare DC recently and appealed him to expedite the process for releasing relief to the affected people at the earliest.

The flash-flood in the first week of August, 2013 reportedly caused heavy damage to the properties of farmers of Hollongi downstream. Dumping of soil in the upper catchment area of Hollongi River after cutting earth for development of the ongoing four-lane highway project has caused the flash-flood, the union claimed.

 

 

CM keeps promises, inaugurates development projects at Kimin

KIMIN, Jan 25: Promises are meant to be kept - thus proved Chief Minister Nabam Tuki when he inaugurated the newly constructed Sub-Divisional Office building at Kimin in Papum Pare district today. He had laid the foundation stone of the said office on January 2, 2012 during one of his first tours after assuming office of the Chief Minister.

Fulfilling another promise, he also inaugurated the newly constructed Circuit House at Kimin, which arguably is one of the best so far in the state. With funding from TFC 2011-12 the state PWD has done a remarkable job in judicious utilization of an amount of Rs 2 crore. The two storied building is fully furnished with RRM and compound walls with cement concrete pavements.

The Chief Minister and local legislator Nabam Rebia, who is also the Planning Parliamentary Secretary, were all praises for the department and its officials for completing the well-designed building in record time.

Later in the day, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of the much needed Steel Bridge over River Panyor at Komasaki near Kimin, that when completed will connect Jumi village with Kimin and rest of the world. At present an old hanging bridge is in place but is not motorable. According to a senior citizen of the area, the bridge was in demand for the last 10-12 years.

The bridge project is being taken up with NABARD funding under RIDF at an estimated amount of Rs 7 crores by the Department of Rural Works (Poma Division). The steel truss single span with RCC deck bridge of 80 mtrs is supposed to be completed within 24 months. However, the Chief Minister directed the executing agency to complete the bridge within 15 months, which was in principle agreed upon on the spot. He also assured the villagers that the approach roads to the bridge would be taken up on priority and completed within the said 15 months so that connectivity eluding the area is established at the earliest.

Addressing an impressive gathering of village folks, officers, panchayat leaders and gaon buras on the banks of Panyor River – also known as Ranganadi – Tuki reiterated that the state government is committed to the development of each and every corner of Arunachal Pradesh. He congratulated the people of Doimukh constituency (under which Kimin falls) for having the best of facilities in comparison to other parts of the state.

“You are going to have the first ever airport of the state. You are getting the first ever railway connectivity in the state. Even the existing airport (Lilabari) and railway line (Harmuty) are nearest to you. You have one hydro power project (by NEEPCO) coming up. You are all lucky….,” he observed and added, “You are also lucky to have a legislator like Nabam Rebia, who has been instrumental in bringing development unseen earlier in his constituency!”

Tuki, while commending the availability of usable land in the area, observed that Kimin and its adjoining areas could be well developed as an industrial estate. He assured that if people want and offered sufficient land he would go ahead with his idea. And to begin with he offered to establish a thermal power plant in the area that would not only meet power demands of the citizens but also feed the industrial establishments that would come up in years to come.

Also present on the occasion were Parliamentary Secretary Nabam Rebia, Deputy Chief Councilor of Itanagar Kipa Babu, former MLA of the area Ngurang Pinch, Zilla Chairperson, Panchayat leaders, officials of the district administration and other departments, officials of ITBP and people from neighboring Assam.

 

 

Concrete tourism policy is required to increase tourist flow’

ITANAGAR, Jan 25: The policy makers must come up with some concrete policy on tourism and have strong will to implement them for development of the sector in Arunachal Pradesh, said Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Marnya Ete.

Ete was addressing the valedictory function of the three days special National Tourism Day observation at Ziro. Ngunu Ziro, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Lower Subansiri district and Future Generations Arunachal (FGA)  observed the day  by conducting training workshop for the local tour guides, nature guides and homestay operators based at Ziro.

Terming Ziro as a promising hill station in view of the two-lane highway and Advance Landing Ground (ALG) under construction at present, Ete exhorted the people to gear themselves up for the increase in the tourist flow in the coming years. Hydropower development in the state should be in sync with tourism development, he said.

Responding to a request from the participants to ban hunting in Ziro Valley, the Deputy Commissioner told that the government has banned issue of gun licences now. Guns, as such are not issued for hunting purpose and so using them for hunting is illegal, he said. He asked the community members to bring to the notice of the authority any hunting activity in the area.

The Superintendent of Police urged the homestay operators, hotel owners and tour operators to keep the local police informed about the tourists arriving in the district. Tater Mize, District Tourism Officer, Ziro said that special arrangements need to be made to promote the local tour operators and local transporters in the district.

Dr. Tage Kanno, representing FGA urged the trainees to utilize the knowledge gained during the training. Informing that a team is shortly visiting Ziro in connection with its inclusion in the Tentative List for World Heritage Site, he urged all to lend their hand in welcoming the team.

Resource persons for the training included OkenTayeng of Abor Country Tours & Expedition, Shishir Adhikary of Help Tourism and other tour operators and tour guides of Ziro.

The course content emphasized on promoting responsible tourism and equipped the trainees with all aspects of hospitality. They were briefed about the general knowledge about the people and place of Ziro as well flora and fauna in the area.

Earlier on January 23, the training program was launched by the Deputy Commissioner in the Shiva Linga of Kardo forest. The inaugural function was followed by tree-plantation and a cleaning drive of the trek leading to the holy place by the students.

The function concluded with distribution of certificates to the trainees including 22 local tour guides and 7 couples as homestay operators.

 

 

Clean India-Arunachal campaign organized  at Raneghat

PASIGHAT, Jan 25:  Marking the National Tourism Day with rest of the nation today, a ‘Clean India-Arunachal’ Campaign was organized today at Ranéghat, East Siang district by East Siang based NGO ‘Daying Ering Wildlife Foundation Eco-Development Society’ (DEWFEDS) in association with District Tourism Office, Pasighat.

As Ministry of Tourism Government of India is aimed to undertake both sensitization and action at field level on bringing our tourist destinations and their surroundings to an acceptable level of cleanliness and hygienic stage, the ‘Clean India-Arunachal’ was an initiative to clean the tourist destination and keep it hygienic by the department of tourism government of Arunachal Pradesh being sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism Govt. of India. The Clean India-Arunachal Campaign was organized by a known registered East Siang based NGO ‘Daying Ering Wildlife Foundation Eco-Development Society’ (DEWFEDS) in association with District Tourism Office, Pasighat.

Attending the programme, Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Srivastava urged the attendants especially the students to keep the tourist places like Raneghat and Komlighat tidy and hygienic so that tourists would find these places worth visiting.

Earlier, District Tourism Officer, Nuyee Talong in his address highlighted the importance of keeping tourist destinations tidy and hygienic so as to attract more tourists in days to come.

Chief Councilor, Pasighat Municipal Council also spoke on the occasion and urged the students to advice their fellow beings not to throw any unhygienic and polluting materials along tourist spots like Ranéghat. He also said that, his municipality is going to take up this clean drive seriously.

The programme was actively participated by 200 students of IGJ Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Pasighat.

ZPC East Siang Kaling Dai, District Art & Culture Officer Augusti Jamoh also attended the programme. DEWFEDS, Chairman, Maksam Tayeng, Vice-Chairman Obang Tapak, Secy. Resource Rajiv Tayeng and Secretary Kaling Panggeng monitored the activities.

 

 

Arunachal troupe, tableau all set to enliven R-day celebration

NEW DELHI, Jan 25: The people of Arunachal Pradesh join hands with people across the nation to celebrate the country’s Republic Day at Rajpath on Sunday as part of the R-Day children’s parade contingent and of the tableau show. The children parade contingent of Arunachal Pradesh comprises 150 girl students from several government schools in the Capital Complex  will present the elegant graceful Rikam Pada dance. They have been undergoing rigorous rehearsals under the aegis of the defence ministry, the culture ministry, the NE Zone Culture Centre and the Arunachal Pradesh art and culture directorate.

Eminent art personality Bengia Tabb is the chief choreographer of the contingent, ably assisted by Joram Rinya and Toko Rina. Bamang Loram is the chief musician. The sequence of the Rikam Pada ballad is rendered in the voice of legendary artiste Taba Yall Nabam and choir. Republic Day 2014 will be remembered as the first time that children of Arunachal Pradesh participated in the ceremonial parade, and as an example of celebrating the girl child, state art and culture director Mamta Riba Naksang said. The famous Aji Lhamu dance of the Monpa-Sherdukpen communities of Tawang and West Kameng districts, based on the story of triumph of good over evil, will also find resonance at Rajpath in the form of a tableau which is being presented by the contingent from Tawang led by Sange Phuntso and ten other girls and boys from the communities. The tableau has been created and presented by the state IPR directorate with New Delhi DRC KN Damo as coordinator.
